In 1931 opened near the village Tuban The first airfield. Beside a few huts there was only one short grass runway and flight and takeoff occurred over the sea.

On the 19th of February, 1942 the airport fell in the hands of the Japanese which marched in during the Second World War in Bali. Although the Japanese hardly used the airport, they fastened the Runway which showed then already in 1947 in length of 160.

At the beginning of the 1950s the airport was adapted to the international standards of the civil aviation and in 1959 the first international flights arrived in Bali.

On account of a temple in the east an enlargement of the Runway was not possible, in this direction by which land reclamation became necessary in the west. 1st of August, 1969 come the Indonesian president Haji Mohamed Suhartoto to Bali for the inaugurate the Runway.

From 1965 to 69 the airport because of the steadily rising air passenger's figures was extended and got his current name after the balinesischen national hero I Gusti Ngurah Rai.

 

History Of The Bali island

Bali is an island belonging to Indonesia in the Indian ocean by a tropical warm average climate. Capital of the island is Denpasar. With a surface of 5.561 km ² Bali is the island biggest by far of the province of the same name. With the census in 2017 Bali had about 5.10 million  inhabitants.

 The north south expansion amounts to 95 km, from his west point up to the east point these are 145 km.

Still few smaller islands called Nusa Penida, Nusa Lembongan and Nusa Ceningan, together 85 islands and island by which only 24 are named belong to the province Bali.

Most mountains of Bali are of volcanic origin and cover about three quarters of the whole island surface. The volcano Gunung Agung („big mountain“) is the highest mountain of the island with 3031 metres. For the Balinesen it is the seat of the gods. Moreover, it is the pole of the balinesischen co-ordinate system.

To the west of the Agung the gigantic, ten-kilometre-wide volcano crater of the Batur massif shuts in, with the edge cone of the Gunung Abang (in 2153 m) as the highest elevation. The inside of the crater   is filled by the young cone of the Gunung Batur active four times in the 20th century (in 1717 m) and by the crater lake Danau Batur.

The Bali history already begins in the antiquity. About in 2500 B.C. there were the first immigrants on the island. The history of Bali is marked by a lot of influence of other people. The influence of India slopped about 670 A.D. of Java on Bali. Therefore, the Buddhism on the island has his beginning in this epoch. Culturally Bali of India was stamped, while trade was influenced, primarily, from China.

The Dutchmen had begun in 1602 to exploit the resources.

Indonesia was explained 17th of August 1945 as Independent. Bali is a part of Indonesia since this Time.

Nevertheless, first the Dutschmen did not want to recognise (1846 - 1942) this Independence and only after four Years they surrendered and withdrew from Bali. Economically seen have Bali a Problem. The Tourism could develop only slowly and also shows even today an Important source of income of the Island.

There is the theory that there should be more temple than dwelling houses on Bali. Many Pura are publicly accessible and can be visited, although they still play a central role in the life of the Hindu Balinesen. Not a single one one of the temples is only a scenery for tourists, they all are still used to tune the gods mildly and to ask the things of the everyday life.


The Temple Pura Luhur Uluwatu

is beside Besakih one of the holiest and most important temples of the island Bali and one of nine state Temple. 
Besides, he is by his situation, about 100 metres over the sea on the cliffs, one of the most impressive ones of Temple. The name Pura Luhur Uluwatu means so much like "Temple about the rock “.


The Pura Taman Ayun Mengwi

is after the mother's temple Besakih the second-holiest temple on the arrangement of the Island Bali. The imperial Temple of the Rajas of Mengwi lies in the centre of Bali and has a supraregional significance. He belongs to nine most important state Temple and virtually serves as a substitute with the mother's temple Besakih. In the Pura Taman Ayun is not only the shrines of the most important gods but also some forefather shrines him of the imperious family of Mengwi are. Before entering a house you always take off your shoes, also for temples and mosques.


Beaches


On the Kuta Beach

of Bali took everything  his beginning. In the end of the 1930s opened of the Californians Robert Koke together with his wife the first "Bali hotel " in Kuta. At that time beach was visited of the Kuta merely by fishermen. Today one recognises Kuta hardly again.  But also in the Tourist stronghold of Bali you can experience one or other schönen moment. The beach is big weitläufig and, therefore, is suited also fürs jogging in the morning or für a walk to Legian, Seminyak, Batu Belig or even Canggu.


The Jimbaran Beach

is a long sandy beach with many small surprises. You can try out Stand-Up-Paddeling, on the fish market buy fresh fish, in the clear water swim, a Seafood dinner enjoy, roll you on the countless couches in the sun or perceive one surfing hour.


The Padang Padang Beach

is one of the best known beaches on Bali. Here there is clear water and nice rocks (which are suited partly also for the climbing). Indeed, the beach is very small and there is to escape hardly possibilities from the other tourists (and partly agile monkeys). Here in the main season it can become very full!. The Padang Padang beach has become known above all by the film "Eat Pray Love" with Julia Roberts.

Important about Beaches

Naked bathing is strictly forbidden by law. It is also not allowed to stay beyond the beach with bath clothes. However, a a question of the propriety against the good customs of today's Bali.
